Peter Dinklage says Disney’s remaking of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is "fucking backwards"

Here’s the bit that most people arent picking up on; the cooking and cleaning are central to the original intention of the tale. Much like the story of “Frau Hölle”. In that story, Frau Hölle is a magical woman who lives in the clouds and controls all the the weather. She recruits a very young girl to do all her cooking and cleaning for her which she must do without complaining. This is the Gold Marie ( she’s blonde) the other girl ( with black hair) is the Pech Marie and she is punished for not doing the cooking and cleaning for Frau Hölle. These tales are meant to reinforce the social norm that good girls are the ones who will cook and clean obediently and for which those girls will be rewarded ( with more cleaning, by the way). That is the moral of this story. You can still see evidence of this today in old German towns, where the old ladies race in the morning to be the first to hang the feather duvets out of the window, thereby proving to the town the cleanliness of their households. In short, there is absolutely nothing about this tale that needs retelling.

If other people’s reactions are bothering you so much you feel the need to police them and tell them they need to think more like you for the reasons you do or else they are being irrational, then perhaps it is time to take a deep breath and log off of the internet for a few hours. Hell, maybe use the down time to do some self work and ask yourself why you think your opinions are more important than those of a man who a) is a little person and b) actually worked on and consulted on the film in question, and why it is so important to you that people stop talking about it and start talking about whatever reason for disliking the film you alluded to as being superior and yet paradoxically didn’t even think was worth mentioning.

I assume since you enjoy advice about how other people should monitor their emotions and opinions this will be well received, believe it or not, it’s meant sincerely

there was a story in my reading book in school when i was in either the 4th or 5th grade which involved a father trying to marry off his three daughters one of whom was extremely obstinate and argumentative. a wealthy, young man offers his hand in marriage to that last one and on the way home he first kills his dog because it doesn’t obey him immediately, then kills his horse because it doesn’t obey him immediately telling his bride each time that he gives only one chance to obey him. when they arrive home she is meek and obedient. at the end of the story he wins a bet with the husbands of the other two, supposedly meek and obedient, sisters based on a contest of which of their brides is the most obedient. even at the time, when i was 9 or 10, i saw many things wrong about that story and when i happened upon that reading book when i was in my 40s and reread that story i was horrified.

The imdb page is pretty messed up.

Oh, so we know that someone worked on the production as a trainee sculptor, but they haven’t cast any of the miners?

I too was wondering how they would explain that, as the character Snow White’s single most defining characteristic was always her uber-caucasian skin tone…

Vasquez:
Hey, Mira. Who’s Snow White?

Ferro:
She’s supposed to be some kind of consultant. Apparently she saw an alien once.

Hudson:
Well whoopee-f***in’-do, hey, I’m impressed.

What they dont tell you is that she later poisons him, inherits all his wealth and then lives happily ever after with her best childhood friend who happens to be a woman.
Ok, yeah, it didnt end that way but wouldn’t it have been great?

funny how “you ladies need to calm down and stop being so emotional” never produces the desired result
