Except Stafford Beer was basically a con-artist and Cybersyn was just a mockup with humans rather than the claimed computers actually providing the displayed information. Rather than socialism, Beer pioneered the rigged demo, beloved of startups trying to get venture capital funding.

In his hypocrisy, Thiel ends up exposing the true neo-feudal agenda of modern Libertarianism. The only liberty he’s interested in is that of the ultra-wealthy to control the (preferably uneducated and uninformed) serfs.

I can understand why Thiel would say that: he went to such a school, and he’s still an idiot.
But just because his intellect didn’t gain anything from Stanford doesn’t mean other people’s won’t.

There’s a saying I like, that “Libertarians have five minutes of good material”. When you speak to one, they open with something imminently reasonable, such as “the war on drugs has been a huge waste of money and we should legalize everything that doesn’t hurt other people”.
However, they always keep talking and while your face is nodding and smiling politely your brain is screaming, “oh god- you’re a monster”

If China loves something, it must be “literally communist.” That makes a lot of sense, China also loves professional basketball, rare earth mineral mining, and pork, which we all know are literally communist as well.
The fact that someone with this grade-school level of political understanding has a direct line to a President with an even more grade-school level of political understanding is fucking terrifying.

Communism is primarily an economic system.
What he’s describing is authoritarianism/totalitarianism, which can adopt (or pay lip service to) any economic form it likes.
There have been at least as many capitalist dictatorships as communist in the history of mankind.
