Yo ho, all hands, hoist the colors high
Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
Yo ho, all hands, raise the colors high
Heave ho, thieves and beggers, never say we die
Yo ho, haul together, raise the colors high
Heave ho, thieves and beggers, never say we die
Wasn’t this the basis for William Gibson’s “Spook Country”? So it can be done.
IIRC, it did involve hacking shipping manifests and dicking around with cargo, but in order to do basically the opposite of piracy.
From my position in the shipping industry, and with previous news, I can say with 65% confidence that the shipping line in question is MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company - a worldwide organization despite the name)
So they tracked down the pirates’ IP address and… blocked it? Really? Should I expect that there’s more, that’s going unreported?
I should imagine that the hacker in question either was asked some rather pointed questions by several large gentlemen or broke the unpowered landspeed record to the horizon.
