…
We should be prepared to riot when trump fires Mueller. This slow moving Russian coup is coming to a head.
Perhaps this is just my conspiracy theory brain at work, but I feel like the organized protests getting blasted across social media are designed to be a pressure release valve to prevent rioting and, you know, any other kind of activity that might not be so easily ignored by those in power.
I’m ready, on short notice.
Well, not riot, but nonviolent nondestructive loud and vigorous protest.
However this turns out, the damage done to civil society and liberal democracy in the U.S. has already exceeded the wildest dreams of right-wingers at home and abroad. While he’s far from alone when it comes to blame, Putin certainly got his money’s worth and then some (in at least a three-figure multiple).
Are there any statues of Trump we can topple? That would look great on the news.
"(McConnell) is going to focus on passing legislation that Trump likes: “I’m going to concentrate here in the Senate and have my colleagues voting on things that are relevant to moving the ball toward the goal line on every single issue that we think we can pass and put on the president’s desk between now and November.”
“Protecting Mueller is not a priority for McConnell this November. It’s a decision he has clearly already made”
The ROI in firing Mueller is all the evil legislation that the GOP can possibly pass. The GOP cares not for this country any longer.
Woah. This is serious.
I would totally anticipate protests, but actual rioting?
Unfortunately, I can imagine that possibility now.
Again, Woah.
Why Pittsburgh, specifically?
“The activist website MoveOn said it had more than 800 “emergency” rallies around the country prepared if Trump dismisses Mueller, who is investigating whether there was collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.”
“Activists would spring into action within hours, MoveOn said, marching in cities and towns in each of the 50 states. The mass protest would also be triggered if Trump moved to replace the deputy attorney general, Rod Rosenstein – which could clear a path for Mueller to be fired – or if Trump pardoned key witnesses in the Russia investigation.” The Guardian

I’m pretty sure every major city is preparing for riots when Trump fires Mueller
So Mitch, you are now joined at the hip to Trump. When the truth comes out, as it inevitably will, you will be remembered as one who put party above nation, an aider and abetter of treason. The Republican party will not be able to cloak itself in the mantle of American patriotism again for the next hundred years.
Mueller Firing Rapid Response - The Plan
RED LINES
Here are the actions Donald Trump could take that would set these protests in motion:
Firing Mueller
Pardons of key witnesses
Actions that would prevent the investigation from being conducted freely, such as replacing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, Mueller’s current supervisor, or repealing the regulations establishing the office
- The firing of Attorney General Jeff Sessions would be one step short of the break glass moment. We would not trigger events, but we would respond by growing the rapid-response list and demanding that any new AG protect the investigation and that Congress pass the Mueller protection legislation. *
WHERE AND WHEN
Here’s the plan for when we would call for protests:
Rallies will begin just hours after national events are triggered:
If actions are triggered BEFORE 2 p.m. local time —> events will begin @ 5 p.m. local time.
If actions are triggered AFTER 2 p.m. local time —> events will begin @ noon local time the following day.
- This is the general plan—please confirm details on your event page, as individual hosts may tailor their events to their local plan.*
THEN WHAT?
Good question!
These events are only the first step. Our goal with these actions is to create an opportunity for anyone outraged by Trump’s abuse of power to engage immediately in voicing their concern. Together, we will communicate unmistakably that this is not okay and that this act to undermine democracy is not going to be allowed to become a new normal.
But that’s only the first step, and it’s far from the last one.
Congress is the only body with the constitutional power and responsibility to hold a president politically accountable for major violations of the public trust like this. And “we, the people” are their backstop and source of legitimate power.
And what people do next to force Congress to act is up to them!
Certainly, everyone at an event should also call their member of Congress to demand action. And everyone is encouraged to communicate that demand directly at congressional offices.
Beyond that, it’s up to you! It’s a good idea to discuss possible scenarios in advance with the hosts of your event or with your friends to develop other nonviolent ways you would like to compel actions from Congress.
Here’s what groups will be asking Congress to do:
CONGRESSIONAL ASKS
Demand members of Congress protect the special counsel’s office, including preserving its files and staff and ensuring it receives the full cooperation of all federal government law enforcement assets.
Demand the creation of a modern-day version of the Senate Select Watergate Committee to investigate all matters involved in the Russia scandals and Trump’s abuse of power and obstruction of justice.
Demand bipartisan hearings in the House Judiciary Committee on obstruction of justice and abuse of power.
Some groups will call these the first steps to impeachment hearings; others will not.
Impeaching Donald Trump is not a demand shared by all partner organizations. Nor is supporting impeachment a prerequisite to attend these events. But it is a view welcome at events, and you can definitely bring a poster calling for it if that’s your view. We can all be for the three things above if some of us are also for additional things, such as impeachment.
So corrupt and disgusting. Mitch has no shame telling the us that he’s happy to let Trump do whatever the fuck he wants as long as he’s holding a wet pen to sign bills for GOP donors.
Got to remember the definition of riot: any gathering of citizens, especially POC, that is disapproved of by the powers that be. To be met with violence and agents provocateurs. See, e.g., Standing Rock.
Good thing the National Guard are all down on the Southern Border picking their noses.
Would this do? Paint the hair yellow, the skin orange, and exchange the burger for a pee-pee tape.
So, it’s one of many cities that might hold a rally if Mueller is fired? Me thinks that the city is being a bit overdramatic here.
Overzealous trumpers in uniform.
McConnell argues, as he has in the past, that such a bill is “unnecessary” because there is “no indication” Trump would fire the special counsel.
Fucking slug.
