The only news here is that somehow the flight crew were given the wrong destination. The pilot knew he was going to Edinburgh. He knew what airport he was landing in. It’s not like he took off, landed, and when told he was in Edinburgh, he did a Kramer-esque Whaaat?

(unless it was the autopilot that took them to Scotland…then you might want to find out who this AI has been talking to on the neuralnets. Maybe the robots know something we don’t…)

They’ve probably been reading Charles Stross novels and feel that they have a better chance of communing with the uploaded lobster hivemind in Edinburgh.

Shortly before the start, the pilot reportedly made the announcement to the passengers that the flight would go to Edingburgh. A passenger is said to have asked the crew if the announcement was a joke. Thereupon the pilot made a “survey” via announcement. The passengers who want to go to Dusseldorf should raise their hands. Said, done: Everyone raised their hands. Apparently the pilot thought it was a joke - because according to his papers, it was with the plane to Edinburgh - and not in the Northrine-Westphalian state capital.

It seems that everybody thought it was Opposite Day! Which obviously makes it not Opposite Day!
