I think our governments would do better by citizens and corporations if they closed all those gaps. I would guess from reading about the APT-1 Chinese hacker report that the Chinese government is exploiting the same holes that UK and US governments may be using to get at their targets. Sure, if we give up those flaws to fix our own we lose that access, but at what cost do we retain that access? Is it really worth it in the long-term?
