Man, I miss the OLD Archie McPhee. When they sold really weird and obscure stuff, like cereal box premium toys from twenty years previous, busts of Red Army generals, and Chinese “jass” offerings.

For a while they sold, dirt cheap, action figures for the David Lynch “Dune” movie.

Now it is mostly stuff they actually make to be weird!

It is still there but not so much in the catalogs anymore. I should visit the store more often really.

The store has moved so many times I don’t even know where it is now. Stone Way, Ballard, off 45th…

Archie McPhee was the first web site I bought anything from, in probably 1996 or so.

P.S. I have the old catalogs!

One memorable item: A Bozo the Clown automaton. A seated clown mannikin who played a bunch of instruments. One of a kind.

We just go an email from the guy who bought it! Good memories. Our owner, Mark Pahlow, was friends with one of the regional Bozos.

If it were an item today I’m sure we would be able to see videos of Bozo in operation before it went out the door!

I follow Mark on Twitter.

Someday I need to scan in my catalogs.
