"Political Correctness"

There’s some genuinely good ideas at the core of political correctness though - or at the core of my definition of political correctness at least. stuff like “don’t deliberately be a jerk” or “maybe we could try not using racist epithets”

SJW is the kind of thing where I’d feel bad if someone called me that because I feel like I haven’t earned it. Warrior? you’re thinking of someone bolder, more outspoken and more effective than me. I’m, like, the Social Justice version of a member of the Mickey Mouse Fan Club

SJW is another term tossed about casually in much the same way. Again, what’s wrong with Social Justice?

I’m all about free speech, unless you criticize me. Then I will label you as a “politically-correct agitator.”

Nothing… unless you just happen to be one of the select few who benefit from injustice.

Consideration and respect has fuckall to do with their straw figure of “political correctness” of course. They intentionally equivocate the actions of lumbering, dumb and risk averse corporations who don’t give a damn if the speech is conservative or liberal with lefties who think epithets are a bad idea.

Yes, language changes sometimes to be more inclusive, and that’s awkward for everyone, the phrase was jokingly utilized because it is tough to find accurate and positive or value-neutral terms for things, persons and ideas. And these things change as regressives take over and assign negative qualities to the same terms, so the hunt begins anew… I can’t blame a person for being confused, just malicious.

Here, you can take your pick. I’m “Social Justice Bard”.

If culture war is a thing, and keyboard warriors exist, then ‘social justice warrior’ is totally legit.

I say anyone who’s prepared to stand for social justice in any way should embrace the term…

Because who’s fighting against SJWs in the culture war? I want them to be fucking defined in opposition to justice.

Social Justice Warlock for me!

And while some people stew over political correctness, this is a regular part of most women’s lives:

But yes, the real problem is “free speech issues” and tone policing by SJWs… Speaking out against harassment and prejudice pales in importance to making sure people don’t have to change their behavior or language.

It’s amazing how, with all the ways people can fail to connect with each other, how fixating on one aspect of culture becomes that last step for some folks before they lose it completely. With red-pillers, it’s the (monolithic?) culture of women. With others it’s race, or immigration status, or if you’re on public assistance.

It’s as though oppression is symbolic and becomes completely about how one feels on a bad day rather than about how much you are paid, whether you get paid, how often you are harrassed or assaulted, how many friends and family have been shot or blown up, etc. There’s no perspective for red-pillers or Trumpers, just their moment-to-moment feelings and fantasies.

But only they see reality. :unamused:

Well, yeah… because wimmins are just emotional trainwrecks, how can they understand such complicated things like “how the world works”?

Sigh… I wish I had hope for things getting better… unfortunately, lately, I don’t.

I’m a Social Justice Sorcerer, it’s intrinsic to me (A disabled bisexual trans woman) rather than a choice*. That, and I get to throw around Social Justice Fireballs if someone pisses me off.

* OK, I could have chosen to live a life of self hatred, or killed myself, but they aren’t sensible choices.

To get slightly intellectual, I think it’s in many ways a means of projecting your insecurities on others as a coping mechanism for how shitty your life is.

To get back to snark, I hate all people equally.

I don’t think that’s possible.

Amen to fireballs! I said warlock because that’s my main in Wow (dooooork), and in addition to the fireballs there’s the implication of not always being very nice. I try to keep a lid on that part, but it’s there

It wasn’t meant as an argument anyway, but more of a sidenote.

I’m going to be in an instantaneous shitty mood if I click on that link, aren’t I?

Here, I’ll summarize.

“Boo hoo. I’m a man and I feel oppressed because every woman in the world won’t have sexual relations with me. Obviously the problem isn’t with me, it’s with other women. Let me join up with other like minded men to complain about this injustice.”

Ok, I guess I do hate some people more than others – but not based on their race, gender identity, religion, or sexual orientation. Just because they are terrible people.
