Yes!
And not so much about women, but I’m sure many of us are old enough to remember the Berlin Wall coming down.
It didn’t happen ‘til it did.
I can only judge by what they actually propose and support, so she may very well be far more leftist than I am. It’s possible, I suppose. Anyway, that’s kind of where I’m going – it doesn’t help progress much if you have to hold back least you be unelectable.
It’s like ACAB. Even if an individual cop somehow isn’t actually a B, but only goes along with it so they won’t be driven out (in a belief that they are improving the system, perhaps?) They’re still effectively a B because they’re not opposing the oppressiveness.
Similarly, our “left leaning” politicians are only such in comparison to the outright fascists we have pushing that envelope.
Hmm, “like” that, I suppose, but also different.
Where’s the cop version of say, Bernie Sanders? Sure, he muzzles himself, but I think he played an enormous part in popularizing ideas around the wealth gap, the one percent, the greed of billionaires, and so on. If he’d gone full-on socialist in words and actions, he wouldn’t be in DC, and he wouldn’thave attained the platform he did as a serious presidential candidate.
Okay, not much, but surely some, no?
I’d rather have politicians who manage to get elected and then try however they can to pull back the Overton Window, and also do whatever good for the disadvantaged they can, than leftists who refuse to jump in and get pulling because they can’t be as radical as they and we wish they to be.
