Well, if the aquatic life doesn’t want to get glittered, it shouldn’t be stealing packages.
The reactions of the thieves didn’t make it seem like they were very much deterred. It was more like fun, or so it seemed to me anyway.
Well, I’ve never had this happen and no one I know in real life has mentioned it happening to them so my standard for “pretty high” is something like once per 17 years. (Amazon says I’ve been a member since 2001.)
Now, maybe I’m just lucky or the particulars of the places I’ve lived helped (slightly hidden front doors, steps, etc.) but my tolerance for getting things stolen is non-existent. I wouldn’t get things home delivered if it happened.
Very true. These opportunistic arseholes will steal from anyone, wealthy or poor, including their own neighbours. And the more affluent you are, the more likely it is there will be someone home to receive your package.
Also, these thieves don’t know what they’re stealing. It’s not all tablets and headphones; it could be a medical device or supplies.
(An aside)
I will occasionally often yell, grunt, or mutter when I get frustrated or otherwise wrapped around the wheel. I had a co-worker that complained to me and I said I’d try to keep it down. (It was hard to take seriously, because it was very much how I imagined receiving a scolding from Gladys Ormphby.) Semiconscious impulses being what they are, I did not improve. She complained again, going on at some length at how difficult her job is (unlike mine, I guess), and for how long she’d been doing it, and said her next step would be to complain to mgm’t. I told her, in all earnestness, that it would probably be her best option, because (I didn’t tell her this part) my task was not going away, and in all likelihood, neither was I.
To the best of my knowledge she never went to mgm’t about it, but I also never heard anymore about it. Next thing I knew she showed up with protective ear covers, like they wear at the airport.
When the company finally unraveled, we were cleaning out all the desks. I got to hers and in the upper cabinets, she had left about two dozen bottles of water in varying stages of consumption. Reminded me of Howard Hughes, except with water, not pee.
I’ve never been pulled over by a police officer and had them discharge their weapon at me. I do not know anyone that it has ever happened to personally in my life.
That does not mean it doesn’t happen with an appalling level of frequency to others.
Because YOU do not experience something regularly or even at all, does not mean it is rare or unheard of.
Package theft is incredibly common. Just googling the phrase should tell you that.

That’s still a small sample size without much geographic distribution. Unless you know hundreds of people in hundreds of locations in real life where this topic would come up. Maybe you do, one never knows who someone else is on the Internet. In which case, you’re probably are just lucky, maybe buy some lottery tickets.
For many years, I had never had this happen either. Drive down the street and see packages by front doors/garages and hanging from mail boxes all the time. Then, one day leave the house for 20 minutes to pick up a kid. Drive by the mailbox with a package hanging from it. The mailman put it in bag and hung the bag from the flag hours earlier. I was almost late for the kid, so I planned on getting it on the way back in 20 minutes. It had been hanging there for 4 hours already afterall. Come back in 20 minutes, and it’s gone. It was in a small town, so the police came right out and were happy to create a report. Fortunately, the vendor sent a replacement then.
It definitely feels like this has become a bigger problem in recent years than it used to be. I’ve learned my lesson too, now I get stuff as soon as I get the notification that it’s there since I’m lucky enough to be here most of the time.
Not to pile on, but considering how many times I have seen reference to this guy’s video in my news feed this morning, it’s definitely an issue that resonates with a lot of people.
I’d be afraid to use the phones after that. I’d expect to get an electric shock or dog poop to squirt out of the ear hole as soon as I tried to use it.
I have retirees in 3 houses around me. They often times will walk over and pick them up when they see them and then text me to say come grab it from inside their garage.
Additionally, we have an accessible back deck, so we often will ask for deliveries to be left there specifically so things are hidden from plain sight.
We’ve never had anything taken and no one around us has said they have either…but it is definitely a growing issue and is clearly rampant throughout the US and most specifically at the holidays.
They seem super pissed every single one of them. Which to be perfectly honest…you just fucking stole a package from someone…You don’t get to be pissed that your car or house gets fucked up as a result. ITS CALLED KARMA!
Our new house has a covered porch and is on a dead end street away from the main route, which I hope would make it less likely. Offsetting that is that it’s in a much bigger area now instead of a small town. But, it’s probably more just blind luck.
One huge advantage of our new porch, is that rain doesn’t get packages anymore. That’s been a problem way more often than theft.
And now the tar and feathers of the 21st century.
He added an automatic fart spray feature, which almost guarantees that the thieves will ditch the gizmo outside rather than keeping it around and taking it apart. It’s really well designed.
You don’t have to bother with glitter and fart smell, just poop in an amazon box and leave it outside. Makes you feel better about using amazon too.
Don’t know how many views on YouTube you’d get from that, but it might be popular on Pornhub.
Needs more wasps.
Mass spider warning.
I don’t care about ‘views’, I care giving thieves what they deserve.
We’ve had it happen twice within 4 years. It’s possible it would happen to us more, but we’ve gotten more careful about where/when we have packages delivered.
