It might have been a belly rub, but before anyone could tell it was engulfed by a flooftrap.
My son found a dead kid on the beach and wanted to keep the skull for a souvenir.
I told him we should probably find another way of phrasing that.
ETA: on a closer look the animal appears to be a juvenile buck, so that joke doesn’t work anyway.
We attended that “skulls” exhibit at the academy, I think that’s where my son got the idea to keep it.
ETA: until I read that link I had no idea my former office-mate had made a documentary on Ray Bandar. Neat!

These birds sounds like the name. In portuguese they say “bem te vi”.
Those jagged pieces of glass are supposed to keep birds off the ledge, right?

The Ratel kit is now out on the porch with his grandmother hucking mealworms the size of your finger at the (mostly grateful) roadrunner, while his grandfather is trying to feed smaller ones to his new pet solifugid.
