Is your cat ok? I Hope she is well!

Yes. She’s doing fine now.
I don’t know exactly how old she is because she was a rescue, but I think she tends towards catching UTIs due to her age. I try to ensure she gets plenty of moisture by soaking her food, and she’s generally safe most of the time.

Elephant Seals at San Simeon, California. This is the time of year when the biggest, noisiest, most aggressively annoying belching brutes on the beach try to pressure the females into mating with them. Reminds me of college for some reason.

Cool. Did you get to Hearst Castle? Which should be shared in another thread if you did.

Not this trip, though I’ve visited on two other occasions.

And elephant seals at Drake’s Bay (!). Apparently they started pupping here last year.

I remember when they were just at Año Nuevo.

Neat. Not a lot of examples out there of large, vulnerable animals that were able to rebound from the brink of extinction so successfully so I’ll take anything I can get even if it means less beach for me.

Alas, one of the prime shapers of their population expansion was the extinction of the California Grizzly. Prior to that they were restricted to pupping on islands.
