There were several species of small feather animals gathered together grooving with a marmoset in this tree. When I came over, they just flipped the wings and flown away.

A kind anonymous soul always provides food for the cats in this empty lot.
oh, you!
you’re not anonymous to us, BakaNeko!
This was posted on one of our local groups, keep in mind my county is about as red as it can be and no one would wear masks because freedum but now all of a sudden they’re terrified of a virus that there is almost zero chance of them catching from a swan in the water. Apparently they are also all vets now and can diagnose avian flu just by looking at the bird.
Chances are the bird wasn’t even sick. When they say DNR says, that’s based on a phone call, no one came out the look at the bird.
Anyone living on… should keep their kids/dogs out of their back yard. There is a swan DNR n conservation say might have avian bird flu. They can not save it bc it’s a mute swan and they won’t come dispatch it bc it’s federally protected unless it starts to really suffer. So this thing might be hanging out in our back yards for a bit. Tried scaring it off with a chain saw and it wouldn’t move, yet it still swims and sits along the canal. It can be passed to other animals and people but its rare… i dk, but I did my civic duty…
So they terrified a bird they believe to be ill.
These are some swans in the same area from a few years ago. We love them.
This is one we helped rescue several years ago. It was in a marina and the water froze around it so it couldn’t take off or get food, it was actually froze to the ice for a brief period of time. We took it the food while a rescue was located to come get it. They need the water to swallow the greens.

I am trying to make a scratching pole for the cats, but He has different plans.
ETA It is a work in progress. I noticed I ran out of rope and glue.
How do we know that’s not just an invisible regular bike?
Yesterday, at a friend’s house, we were re-stringing a ukulele she got a while ago, and one of her cats got up on the table and tried to make off with the other strings that were lying on the table… I did not get a picture of that, sadly.
I tried making my own poles but I could never figure out a good way to attach the rope to a tube or pipe.
I ended up using wooden boards and 18 gauge staples with an air stapler.
These are a couple years old with heavy use from Mr. Feral. The staples are still rock solid. There’s a tall one in his bedroom.
I should have shared this.
My wife gets these pretty cheap at Aldi and Chewy, they’re cardboard and last for a while. They’re all over Amazon as well.
I saw one of these scratching boxes once at Daiso. My wife bought this one and the cats loved the tunnel feature. They sit inside the toy and pretend they are Leo, the Metro’s Lion.
The other day she bought a sisal doormat. The cats loved it. The problem is that when scratching, they spread the fibers around the house. But it’s nothing the vacuum cleaner can’t fix (they aren’t afraid of the appliance.)
Your scratcher looks sturdy and realiable. The staples sure keep anything safe.
I want to make a kind of castle/building for the cats. I want to buy/make these modular boxes with holes. Wrapping around the boxes with ropes and patches of carpets would be great too.
My wife wants to make a kind of trail along the walls and ceilings of the living room. She wants to hang a circuit with platforms, ramps, ropes and bridges for the cats. I’m afraid that at the height of the dawn’s adrenaline rush, they’d fall from above as they chase themselves. These cats at my home are real punks.
Cats love long, thin objects such as wire, electrical cables, woolen yarn, and plant stems. I have to be careful not to leave certain things on the floor as they could swallow it and get hurt.
Yep. My cat loves to play with rubber bands, so we have to watch out for that!
Spring is in the air. The red-winged blackbirds returned today en masse.
A plethora of birds, and a squirrel
ETA: wrong bird listed. Thanks @anon67050589!
TIL: a red-shouldered blackbird is NOT the same thing as a red-wing blackbird.
Well it seems I used an incorrect term above. Oops. Corrected!
Hello Vincent. My, aren’t you a cutie.
