Very neat, but still…
Is it legal to feed a bald eagle?
People are reminded not to feed bald eagles , according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. While feeding the eagles may appear to be a good approach to aid the birds, the DEEP warns that it is not only harmful to the animals, but it is also unlawful under state and federal law, which could result in penalties or incarceration.
Bald eagles are protected by law because of their importance to our environment. They eat fish and other meat that would otherwise go to waste. The food they consume does not sustain them, however; it provides the fuel for their enormous wings. By eating prey larger than themselves, bald eagles are able to control what falls into their nests to help protect their eggs from being eaten by predators.
There are fewer than 5,000 bald eagles left in the world. You can help save these majestic birds by not feeding them. Instead, if you see someone else has provided food for an eagle, please take care to remove it so that no one risks arrest or prosecution for providing food for wildlife.
Feeding them or paying protection?
“Truth! Freedom! Justice! And a hard-boiled egg!”
The inalienable right to both hard boiled and deviled eggs is in the 28th Amendment.
Great: now I want a deviled egg.
Fly like an eagle!
Meh. He’s on the fence.
No pictures so maybe I was dreaming but we have a couple mallards that will land in a tree by us occasionally.
We also have genuine wood ducks that are tree dwellers.
A strange duck. Do you also have a pig?
Wood ducks are so beautiful. We’ve got Wood, Mallard, Bufflehead, Common Goldeneye, Redhead, Hooded Mergansers…and that’s just the ducks. Herons, cranes, swans…and of course the stupid, icky Canada Geese.

This past week he really turned a corner. No more vomiting, and he’s finally starting to fill out.
The hooded oriole nesting in our palm tree having a conversation with other neighborhood birds.
I’m assuming all you backyard bird feeders have seen this but just in case…
We will continue for a few more weeks but we’ll be cleaning the feeders a couple times a week.
I had not seen this. Thanks.
