Any idea what kind of critter this could be… I’m guessing a caterpillar of some variety… it’s about the size of a thumb or so… it did move, I sort of poked it a bit with a stick.

It’s not a tribble… I think.

Somewhat sure its a caterpillar, generally these types of caterpillars are not safe to touch

It looks like a puss or southern flannel caterpillar but pale. Maybe some related type? The I’m glad you didn’t touch it. Fuzzy caterpillars are often painful, even the ones without venom

Edit to add: we see the Wooly Bear caterpillars at least a few times a year. Super cute and not venomous but I’ll still don’t touch them. The hairs can still cause itching and it isn’t good for them either

And to think my dog gets told off for the amount of treats he gets through.

But, honestly, that looks like one pumped strong kitty!

Edit - they’ve even rolled up their sodding sleeves!

@anon67050589 is correct, that right thar is a puss caterpillar and you most definitely do not want to touch fuzzy bug! this is the time of year for those beasties. see them down this way, too.

Mrs. Camping Kitty does so much better in the RV by herself. She doesn’t hide, sits with us and looks out the window a lot.

This guy was guarding the door on a job site the other day.

my buddy, BuddyCat, likes to play like he is a pastry or other baked* good and he’s pretty convincing. sometimes, he is a breadloaf woth all four legs tucked underneath, tail wrapped tightly and head down. other times, he is a cinnamon bun, tightly curled around with head tucked undr feet.
or even his impression of a croissant, as seen here:

(*)baked? which of us is baked here?

How does an indoor cat who has only been on the front patio once in the last month get tapeworms?! He hasn’t had a flea since he was 4 weeks old. Was it the flies he likes to chase and eat? Did some raccoon or the almost-feral neighbor leave an egg on our patio?
We had to dose all three of them, of course. Nimbus was the sacrificial kitten for the vet visit, we needed an updated weight. He’s 10.4 pounds now at 7 months old :astonished:

They’ve all forgiven me for the pilling

Edit to correct his age. He is 7 months and 10 days

Each new adoptee gets bigger. First kitty as an adult was 6 pounds. 2nd was 8. Then 11, 15, and 17.
My spouse jokes that by the time I’m retired we’ll have a cat the size of a lynx and by the time I kick the bucket, a tiger. I swear I don’t choose large kittens!

Ours was 11.6 pounds at 6 months, a few weeks after he had been left at the county shelter’s door. 12.2 pounds 8 months after that. He’s noticeably heavier now, 3 months later. Never had a cat this big before! I can’t put the flea & tick medication in the usual spot because his neck is so long he can reach back and lick between his shoulder blades!
