Just add years/renew to 9 years+. They can’t mess with existing expiration dates barring complete crazy situations, and in 9 years or so who knows what will be used.
I mean it sucks, but renewing to max is probably the rational response. Moving domains is a lot of work, and right now other domains aren’t that much cheaper.
