The link is broken on Pluralistic’s end. However, that painting of the interior of an O’Neill cylinder is the work of Rick Guidice.
Here’s the entire series of paintings NASA commissioned from Guidice, all public domain

ETA: Link working now.
I use the background from Max Headroom, which I have shared.

Stop.Promoting.Zoom.
It is a terrible application.
Are you…disappointed?
Only if you use that gif as your Zoom background
Telescopes and pantomime and just green screens no app are looking pretty good, but I’m not sure what kind of hardcore masochist pivots to Microsoft Teams. Is Mastodon not in the running? The social sitemateering Mastodon? A blender plugin?
You’re welcome!
I would be.
All background on zoom I got was like

Let me be clear. The previous community member’s accusation that Boing Boing is promoting Zoom is risible. BB featured a number of posts critical of Zoom over the past week and change.
Disparaging offering those of us who have to use Zoom for work some fun creative commons backgrounds is a little petty. Nonetheless, @boldeagleuserthing got my like because they replied to my snark with some equal levity. And you get a like for linking to Bruce Schneier’s site…even if it wasn’t a squid post.
Schneier suggests using Jitsi. Is it really better? If so, why isn’t everyone using it?
I’m guessing because no-one’s really heard of it (yet). Zoom has become ubiquitous over the last few weeks though.
I’m planning on trying out Jitsi later today as it looks good on paper.
Free, rather than public domain. (The exact terms are in Japanese.)
