Puzzle: is the bike moving left or right?

I don’t know how to obscure text so if you don’t wanna read scroll past quickly or hold your hand over your face.

Without having looked at other responses I reckon-
The bike is moving from right to left with the top right line being the front wheel of the bike. The rear wheel track is generally a lazy echo of the front wheel track, less erratic, shorter and just keeping up with the path of the first with vague corner cutting or subtle over compensating. This seems to fit this pattern to me, I’m no mathematician, just a chump with a bike. FYI initally I was sure that it was left to right but I’ve been looking at this pic for way too long.

In one of the Sherlock Holmes stories, Doyle got a similar question wrong. He asserted you could tell the bike’s direction by seeing which tire track overlaid the other. All this tells you is which wheel is which, not the direction.

But, but, what if it was a penny-farthing?
