Reactions! ❤ 👍 😆 😮 🤔 🤗 👏 🎊 🤬 😭

I’ve been up and down on this, for reasons my head is not in the right place at the moment, but I’m digging it now.

Nice work, @orenwolf

I think it’s clapping. Either normal clapping, or Clapping.Like.This.

With you on that one. I’m on a laptop, so I often inadvertantly hover over the like button, and end up swearing because I can’t read the post, having to click away from the area until I have made a decision.
If it can be put below, it would save a lot of swears from my end.

Wreck It Ralph Reaction GIF by Walt Disney Animation Studios

Also, it seems that when someone just clicks the heart to like something that gets you a “like” notification, while if someone hovers and selects “heart” from the options you get a “reaction” notification. Both are treated the same in the breakdown. Ignore me, just geeking around

Instead of any of the angry ones, I might suggest a sad or disappointment option. Still expresses a negative sentiment, but much less confrontational. If people pile on with it, it doesn’t feel like an angry torch wielding mob.

Good options:

I think there are many legit reasons to be angry at something though. The point is not to express anger at the person you’re replying to (if that’s the concern) but at whatever they’re posting… But I do agree having a disappointed face would be a good addition.

Yeah, the emoticon pick list covering body copy has got to go.

Could “vomit face” be included? Some stories/posts comically inspire projectiles.

… if we need a “celebration” emoji then  and :tada: both seem more intuitive to me than the jellyfishes

Opening the floodgates

Seriously! Can’t they just take the Emoji Search from the Reply Composer and put it in the Like Button spot?

Just kidding!!! I was fine with using the good old heart to “Like this post”. If it feels wrong to “Like” someone’s post that has sad info in it, then how about the broken heart. :broken_heart:
Just the heart and the broken heart; that’s all I need. :broken_heart: (Yeah, I’m probably just kidding about that too.)

Actually, I wouldn’t mind one that just indicates “I’ve read your post.” (But what would that look like? Hmm…)

Someone once told me that all emotions are essentially Mad, Sad, or Glad.

Therefore we really only need three reaction buttons :woman_shrugging:t2:

Oh wait! Can we have a Shrug option? (Just kidding!!!)

there is a sob :sob: but i feel like a cry  might be better ( or one of the ones you mentioned ) sob’s a little too comical

i definitely like the :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: ( and think that’s a big improvement over the initial anger for the reasons @anon33932455 ? mentioned above. thanks for that change @orenwolf ! )

i honestly thought id hate this new feature, but the current set, and that there’s no “down voting”, is winning me over

Yah, and these days it is more commonly (at least in my circles) used for extreme cuteness and forms of overwhelming happiness. As someone said upthread, it’s become more of an ironic emoji of sorts.
