Reality TV stars of Diesel Brothers fined $850,000 for removing smog prevention devices from trucks

lovely comments on that article.

Nah, it just reveals what their priorities are.

It’s all about the Benjamins…

Coal is also a neat sculpting material in itself. My Mum’s husband has a decorative locomotive carved from a single lump of coal, and it’s a lovely thing.

I shaved my goatee off after seeing Sabastian Gorka spewing nonsense a few years ago. Like Hitler ruined the “toothbrush” mustache, he ruined the goatee for me.

We get it from the guy who delivers the bags of pellets for our pellet stove. He also delivers peat and coal. Not a big fan of the coal in our stove but I like the peat on a cold humid winter day.

In my opinion, any attempt I’ve made at growing a beard never looked good, except for the Don Johnson-type extra-short variety, and even that’s questionable. Handlebar mustache only for me, thank you very much.

Might have something to do with towing a trailer, or launching a boat, but there are probably better solutions to whatever problem they’re trying to solve.

I still haven’t shaved in spite of the association of beards & alt-right types. Now I’m reconsidering it, given that Jr., & more recently, Eric are sporting them. I know beards are more distinctive, but what’s next, going “Donald Duck” because some famous bigot wears pants? I still say we should don berets or something.

ETA: In spite or because of my own beardedness, I did find this >= amusing:

P.S. That said, I would not wear a red tie because of the possible association with the Red-Tie-Wearer-in-Chief. But I also wouldn’t wear a red tie because I put on a tie maybe once or twice a year, and it isn’t likely to come up. I am slightly more likely to put on a red tie than I am likely to put on red trousers, or a red sportcoat.

These idiots each need 200 hours of community service at their local library/elementary/high school giving presentations about the benefits of renewable resources.

Let’s post information everywhere about how cool it is to grind up real coal and add it to your truck’s gas tank to get that genuine steam locomotive smoke.

Done properly, it can be really cool. Apparently the supersonic aerodynamics of the Lippisch P.13a checked out, but no-one ever built one. Kickstarter anyone?

It was mostly made of wood, too.

I think that chassis cabs have the exhaust on the side because otherwise will interfere with some customization and get the tailpipe too long or too short.

Driver side is different in left hand or right hand driving countries, having to move another piece will att dhe costs.

with no insult intended to the trans community, I will point out that a proud moment for most trans men (aka assigned female at birth) is when they’ve taken hormones long enough to grow a good beard. its like they are 14 year old boys or sumthin they way they preen and fuss. =D

personally I wear a beard because I have no chin and its not trimmed like a garden hedge because I’m lazy.

I’d say it’s the customization. And keeps it back from the work, as they’ll often have the exhaust quite far forward as well. And this is why box trucks and tractor trailers have the exhaust running vertical up the side of the cap, keeps it away from the working end.

Yeah but moving the exhaust is a trivial cost compared to moving the drivers side most of these things are sold in either version. I dunno if you’ve spent much time digging around under vehicles but the frames/bodies are usually designed to accommodate either setup. And it’s actually possible to convert vehicles from right to left hand drive (if expensive and pointless).

My point was largely that these guys are changing the exhaust layout in order to point it at people. Like my dad has a diesel f350, the exhaust does exit on the passengers side. But at the very back of the bumper and the exhaust tips direct things backwards, behind the truck and down.

When you’re rolling coal you bend that perpendicular and change the exhaust tips to direct fumes up. There isn’t really a regular diesel pickup in the US right now that sticks it’s exhaust straight out from the side, forward of the rear bumper.

Chassis cabs and box trucks and shit aren’t really material. As the rolling coal trend has to do with people taking modern consumer and commercial grade pickups of pretty normal set up. And making them run like a poorly maintained commercial diesel from 50 years ago cause smog clouds are cool. People (for the most part) aren’t taking chassis cabs with dump beds, tuning them to roll coal. Putting lifts of them. And claiming it’s for off roading performance.

Trump is 6’2" (allegedly) and has a huge spare tire, so how the fuck does his tie come up long?

Good. It is about time someone went after folks like this.

IDK, half- versus full-Windsor?

wow, that ride must be smooth as silk.

While comfort clearly wasn’t the priority of that truck’s design, some steam cars drive way smoother that internal combustion ones with the same number of cylinders and rpm range:
