You won’t just wish them away. Gotta get used to them. And the noisier you’ll be, the more of the undecided will go get a gun just for case.

Then why do you focus on guns, and not on the causes of violence? Or on more prominent death causes like e.g. medical care mistakes? Why just the lead particle accelerators, what’s so special on them for you?

Guns don’t kill people, but they fucking well help.
This is not rocket science. If you have fewer guns in people’s hands, there will be fewer people shot. Yes social programs will help cut down on crime, and yes better care of people who are shot is important, but if you have fewer people able to shoot people, you will have fewer people getting shot. Proof can be seen in the UK where they banned handguns, and SHOCK FUCKING HORROR there were fewer people getting shot.
If someone gets shot in the UK it makes national news. It’s a daily occurrence in the US and they should be ashamed, but some idiots are fucking proud and it makes me SICK.

But nothing levels fields (and other places) quite like a nuke. Plus, it’s not like a militia armed with mere guns is a credible deterrent of foreign invasion these days. The solution is simple - give nukes for everybody, and let MAD sort out the problem of gun violence one way or the other.
Well, I am asking why are you picking a highly controversial, politicized fight instead of focusing the efforts to some other field with better lives-saved-per-effort-spent metrics.
And knife stabbing went up, and knife laws were made, and you can get in trouble for carrying a locking-blade multitool. Why should one have to justify the tools one carries, or have one that tends to snap over one’s fingers?
UK is such a paragon of freedom, totally a good example worth following.
