Flys and mosquitos are not attracted to UV light, that’s a common misconception.
Professional mosquito control relies on CO2.

What makes flies a problem?
I think that that stupid light is more of a problem.
But not nearly as much fun as a bug zapper tennis racquet!

Get a proper stand alone bug zapper they work brilliantly, just remember to clean all the insect corpses regularly though.
And it quickly escalated from there…

“Lesser house flies” like to congregate in my room if I leave the windows open during the summer — unless I run the ceiling fan. That seems to take care of it.
…and boy were their arms tired.

4 little bugs? I think any traditional light bulb will kill that many. Little gnats and fruit flies are always in my lamp fixtures dead. Hell it might have repelled them if only 4.
