Robert Kraft allegedly paid for sex act on morning of AFC Championship game between New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs

Who cares?

Actually by all accounts despite Kraft being a Trumper…he is a good guy. Almost every single player has said he has been an amazing team owner and chairman to everyone there from top to bottom.

Woops… incomplete thought on my part. I meant to say - Removing personal obligations and placing that onto the parlor alone is disgusting.

Fair enough. Thank you for clarifying.

The heart of the problem is this. Cops exploit a combination of puritanical social conservatism and racism/xenophobia to penalize both actual victims of slavery and sex workers while allowing, as you correctly noted, privileged rich white men to break the same laws with impunity.

As with all marginalized people, where there should be a protective force there is instead a system predatory to the interests of the disprivileged. Just as a POC should be able to call the cops if they need help but are left reluctant to do so because they know the cops will sooner target them than whoever they need help from, undocumented migrants and sex workers are left without any recourse. Corrupt cops and corrupt laws mean not only are marginalized people left outside the protection of the law, but the very powers nominally sworn to protect all instead prey on them as well.

And of course pimps, like any other crime lord such as drug kingpins, take full advantage of this fact. It’s the same dynamic that facilitates warlords.

I suppose if Kraft’s wife hadn’t passed away last year there would be a lot of jokes about “this time it’s the Patriots owner caught cheating.”

Nope.
He paid for a hand job in a massage parlor.
Not the classiest move, and I’m certainly glad that this case exposed far more vital felony violations of human lives at this venue and others, but I couldn’t give two craps if an old guy pays a masseuse for a hand job. And frankly, find it strange that people would be so aghast at the idea.

Martha Kraft died in 2011. That’s far from last year in my definition of time.

Edit: added response to @nungesser EXACTLY. I am finding it difficult as to why this is being blown up the way it is. I can only find two reasons: 1) He is a big supporter of Nostradumbass and 2) its the Patriots…so anything to try to take them down a notch or knock them from the top of the hill is a worthwhile reason to kick them in many folk’s eyes.

The chance that a woman working in this kind of parlor is not trafficked is incredibly low. These places are a prime destination for trafficked women, and are typically controlled by organized crime of some sort

In the US prostitution is only legal in Nevada in regulated brothels in specific counties.

So a “handy” in this context is illegal in all 50 states. And a good lot of other countries with much looser prostitution laws.

I’m supportive of the whole legalize and regulate, ethical voluntary prostitution thing. But if you know anything about the sex workers rights and human trafficking things these massage parlors are pretty much the opposite.

That sort of confuses me here. This guy has how many billions? He could have afforded something a lot more discrete and a lot more likely to be ethical and consensual.

And yet massage parlor.

The former is easier said than done I’d imagine. The answer is either “yes”, and “if I don’t say yes my boss will beat me and kill my family”.

The latter is totally and completely wrong. It’s absolutely the responsibility of the shop not to engage in slavery.

Step 1. Get on personal jet plane.
Step 2. Fly to jurisdiction where prostitution is legal.
Step 3. …

A billionaire could own a secret home full of high end escorts. I think it’s amazing that he does the strip mall rub and tug. I also can’t believe this is a news story. We’re all going to jump on the legalize drugs bandwagon but keep prostitution illegal? If you want to punish sex traffickers, punish those who support these dumb laws that create the industry.

If the client can’t prove legitamacy and has any concerns at all, then get the fuck out of there. What is difficult about that? On top of that, these parlors are a known problem with slavery so right away a client with a conscience wont be there.

Its not the shop’s sole responsibility, it also relies on clients to ensure they are not participating in slavery. Any gray area of “I dont know” is not morally responsible.

Also, he’s rich. Watching rich and/or famous people get taken down a peg is our national pastime.

Well then, I guess this incident proves he’s no longer in mourning.

There’s a Jewish magazine that recently posted an article about this imbroglio with a title something akin to: “What does the Talmud say about prostitution.” It basically gives Kraft, a very pro-Israel guy, a big fat pass on his behavior.

Being a billionaire that donates to the “right” causes will always get you absolution, regardless of religion. Who’d a thunk it?

Edited for spelling.

uh. he is Jewish. What does being pro-Israel have anything to do with it?
