When a right-wing populist regime’s military ambitions and economy are in trouble, it’s only a matter of time before it starts trafficking openly in anti-Semitic lies and canards. The Putin autocracy, with its programme of the “self-cleansing of society” is no exception. If – as is likely – there is no apology for this toad’s statement, Russia is going to be an even more difficult place to be Jewish in the near future.
They’ve already tried, along with other fascists around the world.

Ah, we’re now at the “the Jews are the real Nazis” stage of fascist propaganda… All the dumbest bits of the right-wing culture war rhetoric have been getting dumber versions in the fascist culture war, and I’ve been wondering how “pointing out racism makes you the real racist/non-white people are the real racists” was going to evolve to be even dumber.
