No inside info…it’s just that authoritarians can’t maintain power by themselves and fear only gets you so far. If anything, pretty much every Russian oligarch is going to be very upset come tomorrow.

Yes, it makes sense if they have MiG-29 pilots, to let them fly theirs. They are good aircraft, though the avionics and weapons aren’t as up to date.
This is similar to the RAF having a Squadron of Polish pilots during WWII.
I think so, but they probably don’t care and just want to get out in one piece.
They were in tent cites for what, a month or so before this? Doing various drills? They probably had some civilian clothes for down time.

I have a lot of family who were in the military.
It’s not common to have civilian cloths at all in that sort of context. None the less bring an overnight bag with your jammies on an assault.
But part and parcel of this is discipline and control doesn’t seem to be the Russian military’s strong suit. Apparently their fuel shortage is in part down to soldiers stealing and selling gas before they invaded.
So who knows. Their whole military seems to be a top to bottom shambles.
