Sanders campaign accused of "trademark bullying"

Seems like a surefire way to get a whole HELL of a lot of attention though, I bet dude is selling a lot of t-shirts this week. But I’m sure he has TOTALLY honorable intentions, just as Jason does in posting this very important story which has not been spun at all (BanBoing accusing Sanders of stifling free speech is just precious), in pointing out this total, like, abuse of an honest American entrepreneur by that lying Communist gun-loving sexist bro Bernie Sanders.

The term ‘thuggery’ seems to complement the ‘Bernie bros’ meme HRC’s campaign injected into the discourse. Don’t forget, “disqualify him, defeat him, and reunite the party later”. If this type of semi-manufactured and opportunistic petty offense (from the original post) is the best people can come up with to discredit Mr. Sanders, I think that says a whole lot about Mr. Sanders’ character.

Young Guns and Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (the one with Kris Kristoferson) both had that scene.

A similar scene was mentioned in passing in the Anno Dracula novels by Kim Newman, only reversed. Pat Garrett put down a vampire Billy the Kid with a shotgun full of silver dimes.

Mod note: stay on topic and no personal attacks.

Sad, but… SQUIRREL!

Also, I did a search on the USPTO database, and could not find any record indicating that the Sanders’ camp had actually filed a trademark request on any of their logos. How’s that for a nuanced detail?

We encourage you to be creative in designing and using your own logos or trademarks to clearly identify you as the source of the efforts. Hopefully you see this as an opportunity to creatively and distinctively come up with something new and clever on your own.

Nasty!!!

There are a lot of reasonable lawyers out there, but they don’t tend to get work from sociopathic corporate executives because they tend to suggest that the other side may have a case too, that has to be answered, and sociopathic executives don’t want to hear that stuff.

There are? I just thought my brother was the only one.

We all think are lawyer relatives are the only reasonable ones, but we forget that they’re our relatives, and we’re nice people, so they are more likely to resemble us. And there are plenty of nice people around.
I expect that sociopathic CEOs have lawyer relatives who sue because they think they got too small a slice of the Thanksgiving/Christmas (choose pond side) turkey, and the CEOs are delighted to have relatives like that.

?? No nuance at all ?? You don’t have to do that, you know, to own your trademark.

As for what @thirdworldtaxi pointed out, I have to ask you. If you wear a hat, and upon doffing said hat do realize that the opening for your head is in shape and function similar to that of a toilet… do you stop wearing the hat?

Because it seems like you would.

A common-law trademark would require that it be used for commercial purposes. That would include selling t-shirts, but not a political campaign. That’s why any competently run campaign files a trademark on their logos.

Okay, you asked. Feel better?

OH Hai!

It got me a chuckle, yes. But the shape of the opening of a decent hat -is- super similar to the shape of your toilet I think you must agree. Thus according to how you view these two incidents as identical because of that one similarity you found…

should I in fact avoid putting on any hats you have had?

Are you really claiming that the Bernie store is a for-profit business?

I dunno, are you claiming commercial is only that?
