I’m just barely young enough that nuke drills had gone out of fashion by the time I was in school, but tornado drills (and the occasional actual tornado warning) were scary enough.
A green sky is scary as hell.

We don’t need a 100% solution that covers every edge case, loophole, work around, self built, 3D printed, or whatever possibility.
We just need to add enough friction to the act that it’s hard enough and requires enough effort to deter most people.
The shooting event curve is not a straight line with respect to ease of gun access. Each small additional friction reduces a larger amount events early in the curve. That’s the part of the curve we need to focus on. Later, once ease of access is greatly reduced, there would be diminishing returns where the effort to reduce friction doesn’t reduce events by meaningful numbers.
Yeah, tell that to an ammosexual. The Nirvana Fallacy is their favourite dodge.
Wow, that is fucking haunting.
I agree. If you scroll up in the conversation you will see that I was comparing gun laws to automobile safety laws. We will always have car related deaths. But we have done so much to reduce them. We need to do the same for guns.
Apples and oranges @jab Once you pull the trigger the decision is out of your hands.
Step on the gas and you have way more options.
You cannot slow down a bullet.
The young actor at the end is frighteningly good at portraying terror in a way that unmistakable. This ad is incredibly impactful. Now we need to see if anyone in repub-land has the guts to stand up to the NRA. I am not hopeful.
I’m not sure what you mean. I’m saying there were a lot of deaths from cars and the government has passed many laws to make people safer while driving or riding in cars. They need to do the same with guns. Pass some laws to make people safer.
