They weren’t completely convinced until they actually spotted the needle marks in the bone from the overzealous Cretaceous beautician.
I think the Hadrosaurs were the ones famous for the “duck face” look.
My google image search for “trex with lips” wasn’t nearly as interesting as I hoped it would be…
Our notions of what dinosaurs looked like is, of course, certainly wrong. As the infamous “reconstruction” using similar guidelines on living animals indicates…

The various images showing the “new version” are still pretty conservative, really, and no so different from the traditional reconstructions… e.g.
Basically the same T-Rex, but without the overbite…
I remember seeing this assertion on a kids science show probably 20 years ago, on PBS I thi k. In the show they pointed out the row of indentations below the teeth, and compared to other lipped-reptiles that have the same indentations. I’m sure there was more to it than that though
