Sculptures of sea monsters from old maps

That’s some extraordinary work. Having read some Anglo-Saxon poetry (contrary to what Woody Allen recommended I liked classes where I had to read Beowulf) I know of stories of sailors mistaking whales for islands. They’d land on them and the whale would then descend, drowning them. From this I suspect that joke about not wanting to swallow the seamen dates to Anglo-Saxon times.

Wow. Nice work, Bailey!

As someone who is more of an abstract expressionist painter, sculpture, especially super highly detailed sculpture (that isn’t just a cast of some physical object) always hits a warm place in my heart.
I also think bringing medieval illustrations to life is a really cool idea.

I want to see more!

Really prefer to discuss ancient maps and the drawings of the inner earth.
