I hope Bill Rieflin gets a mention… I know he was only with the band from 2013 until his death in 2020, but still…

Fripp may have been arrogant and hard to deal with at times, but plenty of really amazing musicians loved working with him.
I have heard Bill Bruford saying in an interview that it was terrifying being in King Crimson, because there were things you were just “expected to know” (which does sound terrifying) but he was excited the whole time and disappointed when Fripp closed the band down in 1974.
I’m looking forward to this movie.

I saw KC at the Fillmore in 2000. Fripp walked off the stage about 10 minutes in because someone used a flash camera and apparently had to be coaxed back onstage while the audience just stood there wondering what was going to happen. I was mostly pissed at the idiot who spooked the most notoriously cranky musician in the world and almost ruined the concert, but yeah, Fripp is touchy.

“I can’t be the only sane one in this asylum.”

One way or the other Robert, I’m pretty sure you’re not.

This looks great. I’m especially looking forward to the Belew/Bruford/Levin years.

You reminded me about a story my parents told me about Dinah Washington. Apparently, she was performing at a club when someone at the bar rang up a bill on the cash register. So, she walked out. They said she came back later, but they didn’t want to know what happened to the bartender. When I worked in Atlantic City, employees at the casino where Diana Ross performed complained a lot about the rules they had to follow when she performed there. :woman_shrugging:t4:

I hope they remember to talk about, you know, the music.

you still cannot buy the music unless you have a wax item

From the “DGM Live” logo at the end, it would appear this is completely authorized by Fripp.

Finally got around to watching the trailer… he’s in a good bit of the footage, but did not speak in any of it… Anyway… here is Bill (RIP) and Chris Connelly from way on back in the day…

oh my God I am HERE FOR IT.

One of my favorite bands. Could be my favorite if it weren’t for the incredible competition. Also Robert Fripp himself, one of my favorite guitarists and a legitimate genius. Also obviously very difficult to work with. Also maybe he needs to have people around him who have difficulty with him in order for all involved to innovate their uncomfortable best. Hence his clashes with other legitimate geniuses, Adrian Belew and Bill Bruford.

So looking forward to this. My inner and lifelong music geek is already lining up to view and dissect this.

King Crimson live from the quickly defunct and deeply missed “Fridays”, network TV way back in 1981.

F’n wild performance. Levin, and Belew, just, wow. Great find, thanks for sharing.

Seeing this made me have to dig up and listen to the pre-Belew legendary jam/song written on the spot, Asbury Park. Fripp/Bruford/Wetton/Cross, absolutely killing it.

They are in it so hard that you can even see Fripp smile!
