Someone has to suck up those high risk investments that went poisonous. Certainly not the banks, or the important investors.
Maybe Chuck hasn’t considered that they might pay odd debt or food and stuff for their children like clothes.
I spent half my money on gambling, alcohol and women. The rest I wasted.

And all this is before we even get onto how women are a commodity you can buy (and not even a valuable one). I’m hoping Senator Grassley will be able to expand on that intriguing idea at some point.
The problem is that we are never invited to these parties…
Maybe He was thinking in alimony, spousal support or even child support. Spending all the money on booze can ruin any marriage.
Very Dickensian.
I plan on blowing mine on men, booze and movies. What a dope!
Well, that just means that half of Americans, the women, are spending money on themselves, in the form of housing, electricity, water, food and transportation. He’s (half-) right!
“Look! Up in the Senate!”
“It’s a bird!”
“It’s plane!”
“No, it’s Old Money White Privilege Man!”
Worst Super Hero ever. Wait, did I say hero?
Mr. Grassley thinks that women are a thing you buy.
That says a lot about the Republican mindset, doesn’t it?

I’m all for a fairly generous estate tax exemption – and $10MM seems to be pretty generous – and I don’t think estate taxes ought to be at rates more than ordinary income taxes – the old 55% rates were absurd. That said, when you are at $20MM+, you are in deeply rarified air.
Disagree. Tax anything over $10MM at 100%. Use it or lose it.
No. More. Hoarding.
George Best said something similar.
I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

In 1969 I gave up women and alcohol - it was the worst 20 minutes of my life.
If only he had given up the alcohol
Dear Senator, from the American working class…
Oh! So this reminds me that last week Grassley was on All Things Considered, being interviewed by Robert Siegal about the tax bill last week. His argument was pretty much a statement of class warfare on the working poor. He tried to dress it up as a “philosophical question” when pressed by Siegel on specifics - you can listen/read the transcript here:
