I got quite excited by the headline. Ooh, a collection of New Yorker cartoons where the captions were very ill-considered or in poor taste. But no. Just people being “humorous”, and in an intentionally laboured and unfunny way. Oh well.

There is a book called “The Rejection Collection,” which is nothing but rejected New Yorker cartoons. Most of them are exceptionally dark but very funny, like this one:
