Sinead O'Connor threatens to sue Miley Cyrus

“Or rather more specifically , people who will worship “anti-christ””

Satanists are in actuality Ayn Rand fanatics with a penchant for Hot Topic, so while there’s definitely a crossover in the theater for Atlas Shrugged, they don’t believe in the literal devil.

I said it might be different in practice.

oh yeah- I really want to put all my energy into becoming something that the oppressors hate instead of living for myself - because I am a woman.

You’re certainly wasting your time worrying about someone else’s life choices (which are incredibly consistent no matter whether who’s paying attention to her or not), what does it matter whether you’re a woman or not?

Because you and others here insist that if you are a WOMAN you don’t get to be sexy because that confirms to the patriarchy. It would obviously not matter if I were a MAN - I get to CHOOSE then, don’t I?

I am not WORRIED about other’s life choices . I am defending women’s right to be respected. Sure- you can say that Miley has no talent - and I probably would agree. However, Sinead’s letter of " don’t prostitute yourself" is offensive to sex workers and slut shaming. Especially with dose of " your boyfriend and you- in relating to her body. It is hers. She can be naked on stage- her body is still hers. … not her boyfriends.

She also says that she was not trying to be sexy:

“I wasn’t trying to be sexy,” she says. “If I was trying to be sexy, I could have been sexy. I can dance a lot better than I was dancing.”

I honestly cannot figure out what she was going for. Was she trying to be sexy and is now pretending that she was not? Does she think that wearing very little clothing, bending over in front of a guy, and masturbating with a foam finger are not sexual acts?

In her Today Show interview she says that people over 40 do not have sex so maybe around that time she will tone down her style: Miley Cyrus: Why My Clothes Will Come Back on When I’m 40

Yeah, having had a little time to think about it, I do come off as that sort of tiresome Internet scold. And the way that women are perceived and portrayed does matter. I was just seeing some stuff about who was right in this possibly manufactured conflict/controversy, and was a little dismayed by it.

I will not rest until I know what Yolandi thinks.

Great point. I daresay the effects of the media’s portrayal of women are more widespread than some farcical political theater.
