Saw something similar on tumblr in March - in fact, I reblogged it from Mr Doctorow’s acc’t there.

ROOOOOB! This is not a seed. It is the seed pod. Please correct headline. Please.

It hurts me. It really does. I am a plant person. In human terms, this would be like showing a pregnant belly and declaring you took a closer look at the baby.

Beat me to it by a few min.

The seeds themselves are teeny-tiny

I LOVE SEM pics. My friend actually has a couple that he fixed up from auctions. They are older - but he got them at fraction of their original costs.

In fairness, if you put a human’s face under a fairly hard vacuum and then bombarded it with an electron beam it might also scream in horror and/or start peeling flesh away from bone around the eye sockets and mouth.

Probably best not to verify empirically, however, so I can’t say for sure.

Bwaah! A warning from the plant world!
But seriously, this gives me the willies.

I am tempted to propose to you. But then, my partner and your partner might have a say in this. So, as s a botanist, I let the flowers speak:

No, not that one!

Damn.

Just the largest individual flower on earth.
