Common error: confusing acronyms with initialisms. If the attempt to shorten the words or phrase is by taking up the first letters of the individual words, the resulting word is called an acronym if it is pronounceable, while it is an initialism if the resulting word cannot be pronounced.

So… because there’s not actually anything physical being exchanged, are NFTs being used like the real art world to launder massively ridiculous amounts of money, but in a bit of an easier fashion?
I wonder what the effect will be on physical art prices.
