Nope. People hear sounds with their ears. They perceive sounds (and all other sensory inputs) with their mind. But not every sound triggers a perception of that sound, and not every perception of a sound is due to a vibration of your ear drum.

I wouldn’t say I preceive my internal monologue, certainly not in the same way my mind hears the thud when the tower lands. In a way it is like asking what a deaf person “hears”. Even if I lost my senses I would still hear myself or my mind. Even without language I would still be processing ideas and reasoning in a sort of semitangible way in a place entirely inside my mind.
People sometimes ask me who I am talking to…and a lot of the time it’s myself. They seemed puzzled by this and I always question them if they are alone do they never speak. I’ve found for some people that answer is a “yes”, which I find to be odd.
