It’s not hard to square once you understand that, despite their mantra that anything is “just a matter of supply and demand”, the market is nowhere close to being as “free” (in a decidedly non-Smithian sense) as the fundies claim it is.
Add to the list of ideological positions listed by @anon29537550 the one that insists employees should be peons who are grateful for whatever crumbs their betters drop. Corporate and government policy follows naturally from there, greased by the occasional gold bar or luxury RV.
