That’s completely untrue! Us Brits are more than capable of rolling over and begging for it! We didn’t become the lickspittle toadys we are today by saying no to the USA.
In Oz’s modern history, there is only one conflict fought primarily in our own interest (East Timor). Every other time we sent people abroad to kill it was in the service of our British and American overlords.
We don’t have an army. We have a nationalised company of mercenaries.

National numbers are relevant for establishing the actual size of his faction. 60% sounds impressive. But it’s 60% of slightly less than half the voters. Who are slightly more than half the population.
It starts to look like a curiously small group of people when you place it in context. Like a lot with GOP core groups it’s about outsized influence.
