In the mid-90s I worked in the produce department of a grocery store for a couple of years in college. We’d go through about 200 crates of bananas a week of which I would probably stock 50. In all of those crates, I only remember seeing one animal: a dead banana spider. Creeps me out to this day. Even crumpled on it’s back and desiccated, it was still huge by my Midwestern standards.
