In addition to his many other talents, he was a great teacher. Demanding, gentle, funny, patient, generous, and committed to helping others shine as they made his own work shine. And the pleasure on his face as she starts to get it right.
He had a long life, but I am sad I won’t have a new Sondheim show to look forward to.
