Time to go buy myself a potters wheel! Since a dry-erase board is used as the canvas, the possibilities are endless.
Also (unless i’m much mistaken) to perceive the effect you also need a means to regularly interrupt your vision of the scene. Either the traditional viewing slots of a zoetrope, a strobe-light, or the frame refresh rate of video capture. (“betcha that $3500 set of fancy Apple swim goggles could do that for ya!”)
