Supreme Court strikes down abortion restrictions in 5-4 ruling

A couple of things. I have been in a coma and you probably don’t want one - as good as that might sound. Second - who is to say that those of us remaining might look back on now as the “good ole days” - just sayin’.

Well played!

(And as a practising pedant (@wait_really, @mallyboon) my conscience won’t let it go uncorrected. )

I know.

In my case it is related to suicide ideation, it’s not a healthy state of mind but there is little I can do to change things for the better right now. I’m just tired of every day being a fight that I don’t choose to be in.

In my defense, I’m normally a reasonable speller but this one always trips me up. I think I just picked the first autocorrect suggestion on autopilot :man_shrugging:t2:

My brain still hasn’t processed the gay rights ruling, I’m not ready for this. It’s like, after three and a half years of Trump, my brain is simply unable to accept any good news. I’ve become conditioned to accept that it’s always bad news and there’s always yet another shoe to drop. I keep thinking, “Something not-terrible? Well, that can’t be correct!” I haven’t yet even experienced the schadenfreude of thinking about how the religious right must be melting down right now.

So when is Barr going to try to fire Roberts?

I wish they would no longer be called “Liberal” justices. It’s inaccurate. The correct term is “Rational” justices.

They also decided that death penalty executions must resume.

This is a great time to donate to Susan Collins’s opponent.

I was almost certain that the gay rights ruling was just softening us up for a gut punch in this case. Happy to be proven (narrowly) wrong.

If you want the Religious Right to really blow a gasket, have a numerologist do a deep dive into Trump and see if they can’t find something that indicates ‘His is the Number of the Beast – 666’.

I dunno - acting like the Anti-Christ didn’t put them off, after all…

Don’t forget, Evangelicals welcome the end times. Trump being the anti-Christ is all part of their doomsday prophecy.

Yeah, but they keep insisting that he’s God’s chosen one, the anti-Anti-Christ. (In Christian right apocalyptic literature, the Anti-Christ is always depicted as a tolerant liberal type, whose real values are apparently the opposite of what he pretends they are. Basically, if the end-times happened they way they’re expecting, the Christian right would identify Jesus as the Anti-Christ and the Anti-Christ as their savior.)

You forgot the 3 to 7 years of false ‘world peace’ that the Antichrist is supposed to bring about; that’s never happened.

By their own standards, any evangelicals who think that 45 somehow fits the bill for bringing about the eschaton are grasping at fucking straws.

I never understood this. By their beliefs we are already damned to hell, so why would Satan be interested in us? Far better to send a right-winger to be the antichrist, so unsuspecting evangelicals follow him.

Don’t look for logic in the scriptures; it’s futile.

Nevertheless he’s right; according to Revelations, the Antichrist was supposed to be universally beloved at first, the false prophet sent to trick the world into eternal damnation, with the exception of “the righteous.”

An awful lot of fundies don’t care that he isn’t Christian or a terrible person. They think he is going to lead them right into the end days. This is what they want.
