Wow, it took 80 comments for this to come up…
Only 14 comments to Warehouse 13.
Well, those shows were 22 years apart…
ETA: Their premiere episodes, anyway.
Never got to see that one, alas.
Since it was mostly case of the week format, jumping between episodes is possible, depending on themes of interest. I’m sure fan & review sites cover the ones most worth watching. It might be on YouTube or Amazon.
There are also the less obvious but very possible scenarios:
- Choosing the wallet coincides with a total cultural revolution, where wealth is suspect, no one has credit cards, and barter is the rule of the day. Or a Star Trek-esque luxury communism, everything is free as long as you’re working.
- The ring doesn’t prevent you from an accident that chops your hands off.
- The gun doesn’t prevent you from going to jail and rotting in solitary confinement for all your murders.
Even if you chose the wallet, fully automated luxury gay space communism would still be great!
Yeah, I guess… except for the part where you gave away your soul, and the cursed item doesn’t really have any utility in the new future. You still have to work in order to benefit from the space luxury, and maybe you’re not qualified for anything. Maybe you have to do a job you hate. C.f. Futurama – “you gotta do what you gotta do.”
The watch reminds me of Nicholson Baker’s deeply strange The Fermata – which was made a bit weirder by having been brought to my awareness by my high school AP English teacher…
So, will these have affiliate links when they show up in the Boing Boing Store?
Oh heck, I’ve been looking for the Lost Room again! Saw it at a friends house years ago.
I was thinking the ring… but honestly, the Flask sounds amazing (sleep is such a waste, and being fit has an amazing impact on mental health). If you want to self actualize, it seems to provide the most, best quality time with least consequences.
These Seven Items Will Change Your Life!!
Everybody knows, sleep just takes up too much time but, watchya gonna do?
I love the varying t-shirts throughout the episode.
Oh, heck, I scrolled backwards and discovered @Mangochin already mentioned that.
Came here to make the same comment. The objects listed have the same feel to them.
I’ll take the Conch Shell.
Not directly, but increased acuity can help avoid situations where there is an increased risk of accidents that cause manual amputation.
@PsiPhiGrrrl - I know!
Did this show totally punch above it’s weight or am I misremembering?
And Micki…
I just got here watch of sloth was my first choice Imagine all the secrets you could uncover in a 2 hour window. I did consider the gun momentarily as unlimited life could be very appealing but the means by which you slow aging is pretty dark even you do seek out hitlers and such, not to mention it says slow down aging not stop or reverse so one would imagine within a few centuries your going to look like you wish you were dead anyhow. another thought on the gun is that your stuck committing all your murders with the same weapon ballistics is going to catch up with you .
My friends and I wished we had that hair!
