"Swallow Rock" in Brazil sucks people into an underwater cave, and they like it

i imagine this is a new record for BoingBoing… at least I hope it is.

Cool link, but I kind of take exception to such a link being hosted on a site called “Amusing Planet.”

Certain death through drowning isn’t what I’d call “amusing!”

It looks a lot like those pigeons being swallowed down the grain chute, only with humans.

I wonder… An inspiration for Koom Valley?

The first person to fall through must have crapped themselves.

My thoughts too. It sounds too much like The Strid for me to be happy to go in it.

It doesn’t look too bad

Then you walk a few meters away and the River Wharfe turns into this.

Don’t step in The Strid, it will kill you.

And @Ministry gets to comment first.

If the body emerges. There are a lot of caves where it could get trapped

So it’s like, a tube in the rock where the water pressure sucks a person through to an underground pool type area?
That’s just stupid. What happens if you get stuck? does this pressure build until it harms you? or does the person just drown from water filling up the tube?

The version I read was oddly different… (gunshow)

I’m going to assume that the article is wrong about the cave only being accessible through this waterfall, as I can’t see people being able to come back the same way?

Or maybe the exit is another one-way waterfall?
