Oh ok. Thanks.
It was hard to see Christopher Lambert’s distinguishing features through all the magical glow swirling about.
Good gravy, I just viewed the official trailer.

Aaah, yes. Thanks for this.
“the kelp highway”
vs
“the Beringian Standstill Hypothesis”
I heard a local archeologist (yes, in Texas) doubt the habitability of a place covered in ice for long periods. I am not going to insert the “whynotboth.gif” here but I do sense there’s room for more than one argument, and any culture that had mastered seafaring would certainly have advantages in just hugging the coast to navigate until they found a likely landing spot.
One of them, at least. There is a similar but different King Arthur legend in Cumbria, with the same place names but different locations. Most of the Arthurian battles were in the North of England and the lowlands of Scotland in the Historia Brittonum, so it is a more likely location if he did exist.

The northern location would make more sense to me as well, when you put it that way.
I have the privilege of going to a community potluck tonight where one of our guests has come from England, where she is a citizen, to eat with us and visit family and friends. I look forward to asking her what she knows. She’s got an appreciation of history, and usually knows as much or more than I about English history.
I also look forward to looking up Historia Brittonum and I hope I don’t have to dust of my creaky, poorly remembered Latin.
Do you have a translation you like? If yes, please let me know (and thanks in advance).
I had a hardback of Bede’s Historia ecclesiastica gentis Anglorum
but I think I may have gotten rid of it in the last book purge here. I dimly recall having been not too thrilled with the translation of the version I had. If you favor a translator for Bede, I would appreciate any recommendations.
Oh yes. Mindbending. Good ol’ John Boorman. Always a showman. Fantastic.
Since no one else has done it yet, please allow me to queue up that music:
It’s from this: Highlander - "There Can Be Only One" - YouTube
