…
Neat! I’ve never seen a music box that worked that way, it’s kind of like a teeny tiny player piano.
+1 for the annotations
Yep, the “whomp whomp” did it for me.
Yes, exactly! I got the biggest dopiest grin when I saw that.
And you heard it in your head as well I’d bet!
I did. The effect was perfect.
Nice.
One thing. It’s wan’t recorded by Dorothy Jones, it was recorded by Gloria Jones. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tainted_Love
I was tickled by the “Soft Cell Notes”
Yep, that’s exactly what it is! This is the physical manifestation of what most Digital Audio Workstations (DAW) call a ‘piano roll’ which is essentially a step sequencer… I imagine this was the process of creating this piece of music-box music.
A friend gave me one of these as a present so I’d imagine you could easily find one online to knock out a tune!
This IS a truly wonderful thing!
Needs @garethb2
This is just magical. I can’t tell you how happy seeing and hearing that has just made me.
Check out the Hannah Peel version from her Rebox EP. Has a cover of Electricity and Blue Monday as well.
I thought I’d first heard about that here on BB many moons ago but a search brings up zero results.
(And welcome!)
Brain fart. Fixed. Thanks.
Welcome aboard, comrade, and thanks for the pointer.
In fact, I’ve just checked, and it seems I do not have the whole album - just one track: a cover of Electricity (Orchestral Manouevres in the Dark) and jolly fun it is too. Now I’ll have to seek out the rest of the album, inc. Tainted Love.
And @HRS_Kurt
Could you please post the brand name of it?
