The one thing we can count on, whatever the critical response, is that Netflix will cancel it after one season.

Hmm, those pics are very similar to the ones used for Cowboy Bebop’s initial announcements. Hopefully the result is different.

I understand this premise is very quickly jettisoned and it becomes another very long drawn-out tournament fight – not terribly unlike Bleach.

So I might reckon that the executives involved didn’t bother reading that far and are accordingly going ahead with something that will adhere to the original pitch and thereby be completely different from the manga or anime. But if this is indeed being developed by Netflix Japan, that would be good reason to expect something contrary.
