This highlights why we need better laws so that the enablers can be charged, too. Maybe that would discourage them from trying to cover up these crimes.

I’m all for sending this teacher far out into the cornfield (in the same manner that little Billy Mumy did as Anthony, of course.) We do have a lot of cornfields here in Wisconsin.

The safety of our kids is ultimately the responsibility of the board.

This is true. It may not be their highest priority (i.e., covering their own asses), but by golly, it’s certainly on the list of responsibilities somewhere! Very likely it’s even the top five, no lower than the top ten, at least.

Or have them floating in the soup, as Mumy did in a later incarnation.

When will the school start laying blame on the children? Were these air fresheners not school property, and did the kids not break one? Maybe single out just one for punishment, sends a message to the rest.

It’s really shocking how adversarial school administrations are regarding children and parents. You’d think the instinct would be over-cautious and deferential to parents’ concerns, but that only seems to apply when they are out of their minds with rage and physically threatening staff. Children and parents with credible concerns are dismissed and punished while the psychos are rewarded and empowered in the most literal sense.

It is pretty amazing how school admins just want to sweep things under the rug and pretend there isn’t problems in their schools. Repeated bullying and out of line acts that are ignored just re-enforces these kids’ sense of entitlement they get from their parents. It is what lead my kid to switch to a remote learning/home school system.

So it isn’t stranger danger in this case.

Then what was it about?

I predict it won’t be long before companies start marketing products like this to parents for protecting their children against such incidents in the future. After all, anything evil is an opportunity to exercise capitalism.

Statistically, it’s almost never stranger danger.

The final nail in the coffin that pushes this from “extremely creepy stalking behavior” into “yeah, dude’s definitely making child porn” is the fact that he put the freshener cams in the bathrooms. If it wasn’t “about” getting footage of them naked, he could hardly have picked a worse spot.

It’s almost always someone the child knows and that the family trusts.
