Me too. I’ve contributed to Force Multiplier, figuring that they can better spend my political dollars than I can.
It seems…interesting…that the Cruz campaign thinks that exposing the public to Ted Cruz is the correct response to soft poll numbers.
Ok, that mug definitely says AI as in artificial intelligence instead of Al as in Alan. But…I guess it would be natural for AI Franken to just plagiarize the original, right? That’s what they do.
… we IllIlIIllIlIIl need O0OO000O a new alphabet
AI Franken is Al Franken with only 1% of the charm and humor, but 10,000% of the problematic aspects.
ETA: damn alphabet. The first one is the thing enshittifying the world. The second is our reminder that the Democratic Party is the one that believes in self-reflection and accepting consequences for one’s behavior.
Serifs make plain the difference between I (i) and l (lowercase L). I despise their disappearance.
It kinda seemed like resigning was Franken’s attempt to avoid consequences — as in, Schumer told him, if he didn’t resign, his own caucus would condemn him, and Franken somehow thought that meant if he did resign, people would support him again, rather than that his career would be over
Yeah, I can see that, resigning to end the ethics investigation. I remembered it differently, and should have familiarized myself with how it all happened before posting. I remembered him issuing apologies and seemingly feeling remorseful about his actions, but I just looked at his wikipedia page and it said he later regretted resigning and wanted to run for public office again.
That said, at least the party believed in accountability in his case. And has been more consistent with that than the GOP.
gee, teddy cruz…
why are you such an asshole?
… resigning to avoid having his committee assignments taken away
That’s mostly true but I’m still pretty peeved about how long they put up with Senator Bob Menendez. He was indicted for massive corruption and acting as a freakin’ foreign agent in September and October of last year, yet his Senate colleagues saw fit not to expel him, and even let him continue to receive classified briefings on the foreign relations committee throughout the duration of the trial. My own two Senators never even made any statements suggesting that he step down either before or after his conviction, let alone take steps to expel him. So I guess what I’m saying is that there’s still a lot of room for improvement.
