When I saw the ‘woman grinds into clinic’ in Texas, I was thinking of something completely different regarding ‘grinds’ and ‘clinic’…
You’re right … they’re going to be looking for a much older-looking woman. It’s the perfect crime.
Check out the video I linked. On higher grade steels it will certainly take longer than 60 seconds, and they mentioned you’d need a tungsten cutting wheel as well. From the written companion article:
The quality of the materials and the build meant this one outlasted our corrosion test and the EasyZyKF bracket took the full 200 hours of abuse. In cutting tests it stripped the standard saw blade, and took over 2 minutes of cutting with tungsten. The power grinder result of nearly four minutes was only beaten by heftier rivals.
Cable locks, foldable locks, and chains are probably toast against the angle grinder though, that’s the big advantage of (quality) U-locks – it presents a giant hunk of contiguous steel to the available tools.
Yeah thats why I cycle with a short length of very lightweight chain and a cheap, small padlock. Its inexpensive, compact, light and about as secure as anything else I could use.
Avoiding the paradox of bicycles: The lighter the bike, the heavier the lock.
